The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council is a 15-member legislative group. Twelve of the members represent specific districts and serve two-year terms; three are elected citywide as at-large council members and serve four-year terms. The at-large member receiving the highest number of votes in the general election automatically becomes the vice mayor, who acts as the presiding officer of the council when the mayor is absent. == Members == The council members as of 2024 are: {| class="wikitable sortable" !Councilmember !District !Term ends |- |Dan Wu |Vice Mayor |2026 |- |James Brown |At-large |2026 |- |Chuck Ellinger II |At-large |2026 |- |Tayna Fogle |1st |2024 |- |Shayla Lynch |2nd |2024 |- |Hannah LeGris |3rd |2024 |- |Brenda Monarrez |4th |2024 |- |Liz Sheehan |5th |2024 |- |Denise Gray |6th |2024 |- |Preston Worley |7th |2024 |- |Fred Brown |8th |2024 |- |Whitney Baxter |9th |2024 |- |Dave Sevigny |10th |2024 |- |Jennifer Reynolds |11th |2024 |- |Kathy Plomin |12th |2024 |} == Council Meetings == Most Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council meetings are open to the public.
