Hamburg is an area in Lexington, Kentucky that encompasses over 2,000,000 square feet of retail space, 160 acres of professional offices, and 1,000 acres of residential development.

Established in 1897 by John E. Madden, a renowned figure in horse racing, Hamburg Place originated from the proceeds of selling the racehorse Hamburg. Madden's legacy thrived through producing multiple champions, including the first Triple Crown winner, Sir Barton.
The construction of Interstate 75 in 1964 marked the beginning of development within Hamburg Place. Anita and Patrick W. Madden spearheaded the vision for a retail destination, attracting major stores like Meijer, Target, Wal-Mart, and others.
Today, half of Hamburg Place has been developed, featuring green spaces and a horse cemetery honoring legendary champions. Its ongoing development melds modernity with a nod to its equestrian heritage, representing a dynamic community.
